Odysseus
Position in story: The Epic Hero; Protaganist
Personality (Beginning): arrogant
prideful
a player
somewhat impulsive
Conflicts/ Milestones: Trojan War
Cicones attack
Lotus Eaters
Polyphemus in general
Circe and Calypso's thirstiness
Scylla & Charybdis
His crew's hunger
Defeating the suitors
Homecoming
How, What and Why did He change?:
After his big journey, he made some big changes to his personality. He became more modest, slightly less arrogant and sure as heck more grateful for who and what he has. He would've also been a little more cautious about what he says and does to the gods. Especially since he has to make up for what he did to Poseidon. I think it was for the good; Lord knows he needed a major reality check.

Penelope
Position in story: Epic Hero's wife; Protagonist
Personality (Beginning): depressed, stressed, strained hope, sorrow
Conflicts/ Milestones: Raising Telemachos without Odysseus, Dealing / holding off suitors, Having faith that Ody will return, Doubting Ody, Accepting Ody
Personality (End): happy, in love, pressure free
How, What and Why Did She Change?:
Waiting is torture sometimes; trust me, I would know. However, sometimes, if you wait long enough, it'll teach you a few things. For example, the value of patience. No matter how much the story said that she protested, she probably thought at least once about giving up and choosing a suitor anyway. However, in the end, she ended up not having to. I think this could not only do some good for her, but for her kingdom as well. If another war were to come along, she could mourn with her people for the loss of men to battle.

Polyphemos
Position in story: One of Ody's obstacle; Antagonist
Personality (Beginning): rude, outspoken, impulsive
Conflicts/ Milestones: Meeting Ody, Trusting Ody, Eating Ody's Men, Getting stabbed blind, Calling vengeance to Posieden on Ody/ Getting Ody Cursed
How, What and Why did He change?:
Well, anyone who knows the story knows that he lost his sight, which is, of course, a big change. However, I think that in the process, he learned not to underestimate things, thus he probably gives some sort of respect. I mean, he was not only eating Odysseus' men, he was also insulting him and acting rude. Then he takes a gift from his enemies?! If you ask me, he deserved that blow to the eye!

Poseiden
Position in story: one of the gods; main Antagonist
Personality (Beginning): furious, livid, unmerciful, avenging
Conflicts/ Milestones: his son being stabbed in the eye, cursing Odysseus, getting an offering from Odysseus at the very end
Personality (End): calm, merciful, "lazy"
How, What and Why did He change?:
All he was seeking was that Odysseus feels his wrath after he stabbed his son, Polyphemus. When Odysseus righted his wrongs with a sacrifice, Poseiden took it and was ok. Not really that complicated.
